DIY Bench

I am so happy to have my bench finished! Big thanks go out to my dad who did all the wood work (while I kept him company) He made me do a few things, and I helped him with some stuff.

It was made out of a bed headboard, and we built the bench off of it. The headboard I purchased from a thrift store for $15. Then I spent $20 at Home Depot for the wood and supplies (I spend more for the red wood because it's better quality) So it cost me $35 to make this bench, totally worth it!

It was pretty simple, three sets of legs going out, with the boards screwed to them on top. Then you have to made sure the top wood overlaps about an inch (we didn't do this the first time, and had to buy the wood and try again) This way it will cover the wood we put around to make it look more like a box, and it also looks more finished this way.

Then I primed it, and painted it with a black gloss paint, Behr brand. After it "cures" I will put a coat of clear sealer since it will be outside.

I love it in front of my house! This is step one to my front yard projects going on. Now onto new house numbers, then installing my new porch light, then shutters on the two smaller windows. It will then be complete, and will look so good!

I also have another pillow idea I am excited about that will be coming soon as well :) Wow, can you tell I am busy? I am almost done with my dining room as well, and I am loving every second of it's progress. I can't wait to show you!!!
